So, who is Seru (Cell)?
As we all know, he appears approximately at the same time as the Androids #16, #17 & #18 (manga 29/30). And exactly like them, he is an Android, created by Dr. Gero/#20.

But Dr. Gero lost his interest in making a new Android so he broke off his experiment. Cell, would have died if Gero's self-thinking computer hadn't finished his work. He collected cells of the most powerful warriors (Son-Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza, King Cold) for Cell.
Twentyfour years later, Cell was ready to go out of Gero's lab and looked for the two things he was created for to do:

- #17 & #18 to get his ultimate power in absorbing them
- Son-Goku. Yes, he should die (once again ^.~).

What he didn't know: Trunks had already killed the other Androids and Son-Goku died for some unknown reason (maybe it was the heart virus, too?! I don't know.).
Cell decided to kill Trunks and used his time machine to travel into another timeline, where #17, #18 and Son-Goku were alive.

If some of you may think: "WHAT? Trunks, who had killed the Androids, got killed by Cell? Goku died? What are you talking about?", I can understand. You shouldn't forget that there are more than one timelines existing. Son-Goku and the Z-Senshi live in one, Mirai Trunks (the Trunks who came back to visit Goku!) lives in another and Cell lives in another timeline, too.

Cell reached Goku's timeline in a cocoon (which was looking like an egg with stings).



With human energy, he changed into his first form and fought with Piccolo. Now he was able to use attacks of Goku (the Kame-Hame-Ha, the Solar Flare) and Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon. Later, he learned Vegeta's Big Bang attack, Frieza's Death Beam, #18's Destructo Disc and #17's Perfect Barrier.
To describe his personality: Like the Saiyajin's he is always amused by war/fighting, he became stronger after he had been close to death, too. Besides, the Android seemed to have a love for sadism XD

Cell fought with Piccolo, he found the objects of his desire, #17 & 18, he stucked #17 in and reached his second form. (he looks like Bat Man, doesn't he?)

"Super-Vegeta" came and made Cell almost lost the fight. But Cell - clever as he was - convinced the proud Vegeta for letting him look for #18 to become a perfect fighter. Of course, the Saiyajin Prince wanted a strong opponent, so Cell got what wanted.
In his Perfect Form, he defeated Vegeta and Trunks, the Ultra-Super-Saiyajin. The green Android got pretty bored. He didn't want to kill Son-Goku anymore. For his entertainment (= funs means war and see his enemies in hopelessness and fear for him), he decided to call out a Budokai Tenkaichi, the Cell Games.

Son-Goku and the other Senshi took part. Goku gave up his fight and told his son, Son-Gohan, to defeat the Android. Cell laughed about how a 9 years old Child wanted to beat him up - but Gohan did. He reached SSJ#2 and hit the crap out of Cell, who couldn't belive that there is a man alive who is stronger than him, the "perfect fighter". As last chance for winning, Cell made a huge explosion of Ki that kills himself and hopefully his opponent. But it didn't work, because of Son-Goku who died in the explosion.
Our Android didn't. He came back in his "Super Perfect Form" - having the strenght of a SSJ2. He looks like he looked in his Perfect Form, only with Ki-flashes around him, like a Saiyan in his 2nd SSJ form has. He also got new skills (Goku's Instantaneous Transmission and the Genkidama) but in the end, they didn't help him to resist his destiny: He finally died by Son-Gohan's Super-Kame-Hame-Ha.
